Visit the charity's profileWe believe that all Tennesseans have value and dignity and that our laws, policies, and programs should be protected and improved to reflect these shared beliefs. That's why for 25 years, TJC has used the law and advocacy to help hundreds of thousands of individuals statewide navigate complicated systems and ensure they get the health care and food they need.
We help Tennesseans one-by-one and then take what we learn from their stories to advocate for large-scale changes that help others in the same boat. We navigate the maze of red tape surrounding health care and nutrition benefits and work tirelessly on the front lines making sure our states most vulnerable arent getting left behind. We also support the work of others engaged in similar advocacy efforts, beyond state boundaries, on behalf of families in need.

One week before my COVID-19 diagnosis and after 3½ years of unjust Medicaid denials, the TJC was able to assist me in accessing TennCare. Having this coverage gives me hope in navigating such trying times without the burden of deciding between living and medical expenses.
This holiday season, we need your help so that we can continue to fight alongside our clients. For every $1 donated in 2019, TJC leveraged $165 in essential services like healthcare & nutrition for over 1 million Tennesseans throughout the state. So far this year, TJC has:
- Filed a lawsuit representing 1.5 million children and adults currently on TennCare, seeking fixes for computer defects that threaten their coverage.
- Won $123.6 million in student food aid for over 350,000 low-income children.
- Persuaded the state to halt Medicaid eligibility reviews that increased nursing home residents exposure to COVID-19, saving hundreds of lives.
- Worked on 1,700 individual cases, from 82 of TNs 95 counties. Our clients inspire and drive the work that we do.
