Story
WE DID IT!! 23 hours and 17 minutes!!!!
Wow, what an experience, so so tough though. Our team of 9 (Al, Stuart, Chris, Alice, Jo, Chloe, Tom, Henry and Ian) conquered the National Three Peak Challenge !
We flew to Glasgow on Friday 14th October 2022 and started the challenge at 5.45am on Saturday 15th from our base in Fort William! Pouring with rain as we started our climb at Ben Nevis, -10 and snow greeted us at the summit. Many highs and many lows - Three mountains conquered, many miles driven as we finished at the bottom of Snowdon with just 43 minutes remaining. Thanks to our guide Rich who kept us on track with a swift pace and to a truly wonderful team for their support, smiles, laughs and weve got this attitude to see us through and to create some incredible life memories together. . All money being raised will go directly to our chosen charity, Challengers and we would love as much support as we can get for this wonderful cause.
Challengers is dedicated to breaking down the barriers of play for disabled children and young people. They provide inclusive play and leisure opportunities for over 1000 disabled children and young people a year, aged 2-18 at our pre-schools, playschemes and youthschemes all based across the South East. Challengers is a place where all disabled young people can have fun, make friends and try activities they have never had the opportunity to before. Parents can feel confident that their child is happy and safe, and that their needs are well catered for. These parents are often in need of breaks from their care responsibilities. Our services provide respite for them, and fun for their child.
Challengers has kept our families mental and physical health from tipping over the edge. We feel safe in the knowledge that there is somewhere he can go and do activities he will enjoy and we can have time for ourselves and the rest of family. Not just respite but an adventure for him, with folk who understand his needs and are prepared to go the extra mile to meet them. -Challengers Parent
