Story
ELHT&Me support East Lancashire Hospitals and Community Services by funding new facilities and building an environment with children in mind, so that our doctors and nurses have exactly what they want, when they need it to deliver the best care for our youngest patients. They treat every condition imaginable battling the most complex illnesses. Every day they make a difference, and you can too.
A trip to the hospital can be very daunting for a child. It is sometimes hard for a child to understand why they are. Although visiting a hospital may never be an enjoyable experience, with your support, we can make the experience brighter and more enjoyable for our young patients, by providing age and need appropriate toys, activities, and games, that will alleviate their fears and provide a welcome distraction through the power of play.
Play has the power to aid recovery, drastically increase a childs ability to cope in an unfamiliar environment, and even provide them with a deeper understanding of their treatment and illness. Play also has the power to help children with identified health needs learn, develop and grow. Most importantly it has the power to make a child smile. We believe that all children should have access to play during their hospital stay.
