The Long Table - Community & Food with Room for Everyone
Recently we have been dreaming about ways to serve the local community near our beautiful building on Donegall Street and do something in response to the cost of living crisis we find ourselves in. Through a series of conversations and connections both within the community and outside it the idea of The Long Table was birthed.
What is The Long Table? - Each week on a Friday evening we plan to serve a meal of free nutritious food to those in need, our heart is that as a team we will prepare the food and then eat together with our guests and build relationships and community. We hope to serve people well and offer a warm welcoming space and enjoy sacred times together over food and at our long tables.
The Long Table is hosted by Redeemer Central at 101 Donegall Street, Belfast beginning in February 2023 (Watch this space for confirmation of the launch date).
We are excited for what is to come and full of big ideas but for now we intend to do small things with great love.
Our hope is to be a community that is welcoming to all, with lots of space at the table created for people in our city to come and find a place. As a church we continue to explore what the event of the Kingdom of God looks like the mad hatters tea party, a divine interruption, advent-ful surprise, the hospitality of Christ, the open invitation to the table.
