Story
This is The Junctions 16th year of working with young people in Leith and North East Edinburgh. To mark this milestone birthday, we are asking people to join us in raising funds across the year, so we can continue to offer services that support young people in our community, to achieve their full potential.
The Junction Young People, Health & Wellbeing is an award-winning organisation established in 2005 and was our response to local action research: Safe & Sorted? Not in Leith. Here at the Junction we take a holistic approach towards young peoples health & wellbeing. We understand that the various aspects of young peoples lives are interrelated, so we make sure that young people are able to access all of our services, without having to fit themselves in with defined issues or problems.
Adolescence can be a challenging time for young people learning about the world, its wider systems, learning who we are, how to be independent from family and relationships with friends. This is only exacerbated by other circumstances such as being in lock down with no privacy, with anxiety about education and facing a bleak future.
The pandemic has added more uncertainty and challenges for young people. During this time the Junction continues to support young people with their health and wellbeing when they need it most.
We need your help more than ever to continue running our service as we navigate the lasting effect this will have on our young people's mental health and wellbeing.
We hope that our year of celebration will offer some fun distraction and encourage people to reach goals whilst raising funds and finding out more about The Junctions services. Although we will be offering many opportunities to get involved across the year, we are really keen to hear your ideas for fundraising and will be here to support you.
Fundraise 16!
As we are celebrating our 16th year, why not use this as a basis for your fundraising? For instance, you might pledge to walk, run, cycle, wheel, read for 16miles/Km/hours/minutes. Or hope to raise £16, £160, £1600 with an activity of your choice. Even getting 16 likes and 16 shares on social media to support The Junction would be a big help!
If you are stuck for ideas, please look at our fundraising pack for inspiration or email us on info@the-junction.org so you can start planning your fundraising now.
