Story
At our Southville centre, we proudly host an active weekly group of older people for a two-course lunch and activities with friends. Unfortunately, our funding has been greatly reduced for this long-running group which provides meals and activities. The funding enabled our organisation (BS3 Community Development) to host the club for a subsidised weekly fee for all members. We're now appealing for donations to continue this vital work while we seek funding to secure its future.
This year, we've served over 800 lunches and members benefitted from a range of activities including Qigong, singing, bingo, and quizzes.
Monday Club members say it makes them feel less isolated and helps them to make new friends. One member commented, "It feels like family. It makes you feel more connected and everyone looks out for each other. It feels like it’s always been a part of my life. It’s a lifeline for loads of people, we look after each other – it’s a necessity."
A donation of £2, subsidises a two-course meal for an older person.
A donation of £5, subsidises a meal and funds a wellbeing activity.
A donation of £10 subsidises a meal, funds a wellbeing activity and enables an off-site day trip.
A donation of £20 funds a meal and activity for those who cannot afford the small membership fee.
A donation of £100 subsidises a two-course meal for an older person for a whole year. A donation of this size also supports us to provide a free meal to those who cannot afford the small weekly membership fee.
