Story
We are a small charity made up of people who stammer and speech and language therapists passionate about raising awareness of stammering and supporting young people.
We provide an annual residential course for young people who stammer (ages 10-7 years old) The courses started almost 30 years ago, are pioneering in their combination of outdoor adventure activities and speech therapy to help young people manage the challenges faced by stammering.
Stammering is a different way of talking, but can become challenging especially during the teen years, the consequences of speech differences, increased effort to talk and not being felt heard, lead to anxiety and increased risks of being bullied. With the right support these young people can live well and to their best potentials.
Our courses enable young people to step outside their comfort zones, explore stammering in a safe yet challenging environment, to build resilience and acceptance of themselves, whilst also receiving vital peer support and knowing they are not alone in managing stammering.
Here is what some of of our past students and families have said about our courses

The course was amazing, the child I picked up was a different child, his spirits lifted, priceless. Parents of a past student
I tackled things I never thought I would. It helped knowing I was surrounded by people in the same situation as me. Tara, aged14
We cannot recommend this course highly enough, in fact we feel strongly that every child in the UK should have the opportunity to attend this course. Parent of past student
