Story
The Dudson Museum is based in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, forming part of The Dudson Centre which was created in 1999 when the original Dudson Factory site, which dates back to 1809, was regenerated by a range of private and public sector partners. Uniquely, The Museum is housed in an atmospheric Grade ll listed bottle oven and, on stepping through the oven door you will be immersed in the heritage of the iconic Dudson brand, which continued to produce ceramic tableware until 2019, a unique, family business with a proud tradition of quality and a fascinating history.
The Dudson Museum combines the history of the companys production with a fascinating industrial history of both local and national significance. Very few pottery museums specific to the production of one company still remain, and Dudson is one of the most significant. The diverse and extensive collection of Dudson pottery spans three centuries and is displayed on two floors, with exhibits ranging from Staffordshire figures to Jasperware and hotel-ware.
