Story

Walk in solidarity with coffee growing communities this World Water Day

World Water Day is a celebration of water held annually on 22nd March to raise awareness of the water crisis. 773 million people around the world don't have access to clean water. The majority live in isolated, rural areas, the same areas growing our coffee.

While we enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the end of its supply chain face a water crisis. That's why this World Water Day we're calling on the coffee industry and coffee lovers to take part in The Big Water Walk and raise funds to make a life-changing impact on in coffee growing countries.

This year we are fundraising for Beseka Primary School, located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We’re working with a local delivery partner to ensure the school has a consistent water supply and safe toilet blocks.

The Big Water Walk - Friday 22nd March

The Big Water Walk aims to raise awareness for the coffee growing communities that have to walk for hours every day to collect their water.

There are two ways people can join The Big Water Walk. If based in London, participants can join our walk along the Thames, carrying as much water as possible and raising funds to help change lives in coffee communities. 5k, 10k and 15k routes will be available, so everyone can take part no matter their walking level.

If based outside of London, participants can sign up and design their own routes around their local area. Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part!

STEPS TO TAKE PART

1. If you are taking part in The Big Water Walk along the Thames then sign up here and pay the £15 registration fee (which includes the official big water walk t-shirt, a tote bag and goodies from our sponsors!). If you are designing your own route you can skip this step!

2. Create a Just Giving fundraising page linked to this campaign

3. Decide on the 5k, 10k, or 15k route and how much water you'll carry

4. Use our fundraising tips and tricks to smash your £100 fundraising goal

5. Fill your bottles or water containers and meet us at the starting line to begin the walk!
