Story
Ready for the ultimate adrenaline rush?
This year, The Big Jump is more than just a skydive. It’s a powerful way to honour someone special and celebrate their memory while raising vital funds for your local NHS charity.
Our Skydive Day is your chance to experience the thrill of freefall while making a real difference.
Picture sitting at the open door of the plane, heart racing, knowing you’re about jump from 13,000 feet, reaching speeds of up to 120mph, doing something brave and meaningful in their honour. Knowing every pound you raise helps Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity be there for your friends and family when they need us most.
We’re calling on thrill-seekers, teams and passionate fundraisers to join us for this unforgettable shared experience. On Saturday 20 June 2026, you’ll skydive side by side with like-minded supporters, united by a desire to do something extraordinary for causes close to your heart.
You’ll complete a tandem skydive, securely attached to a highly experienced professional instructor, leaving you free to soak up the adrenaline, enjoy the views and focus on the impact your fundraising will make.
Whether you’re remembering a loved one, marking an anniversary, or simply wanting to give back in their name, this is your moment to do something extraordinary for them.
What happens on the day?
It’s simple and you’ll be supported every step of the way:
Register at the UK Parachuting Office
Take part in a 20-minute training session, covering:
How the parachute equipment works
How you’ll be attached to your instructor
What to expect during the flight, exit, freefall and landing
Get kitted up with goggles and harness
Board the plane with your instructor
Climb to 13,000 feet
Step to the door… and take The Big Jump!
Enjoy freefall down to around 5,000 feet, then glide back to earth under canopy as you take in the views
So, are you ready to take the leap?
We would love for your fundraising to support our Time Garden Appeal, helping us build a calm and peaceful space for end-of-life patients and their loved ones, for when time truly matters. Alternatively you can choose to fundraise for one of our current appeals: Butterfly Appeal, Cancer Wellbeing, Radiotherapy Fund, Staff Wellbeing or for the ward or department within our services closest to your heart. Just let us know your preference when you set up your JustGiving page.
