Story
The 500 Challenge will raise funds to support the delivery of the first RDA Virtual National Championships taking place on 25th - 26th September.
Running throughout August & September 2021, The 500 Challenge, will be encouraging support either through donations or by becoming fundraisers and taking part in an event or activity of their choice involving the number 500 (or multiples) representing the, almost, 500 RDA Groups around the Country. Some ideas of ways you can get involved and make a difference:
- Cycle 500 miles throughout September.
- 500 Skips a day for 30 days.
- Donate £5, £50 or £500
- Raise £500 by shaving your head.
- 50,000 steps in a week, 100 steps for each RDA Group.
- Running the equivalent of 5 Marathons.
- Bake a 500 themed Cake.
The RDA National Championships are a celebration of what our disabled riders can do, and provides an opportunity to profile their capabilities and achievement in sport.
Due to the global pandemic we will be unable to host a face-to-face competition. Knowing the incredibly positive benefits that the National Championships has on our riders and keeping a focus on what we can do, we have decided to go digital and host a virtual competition instead.
Your fundraising efforts will help us to keep the dream alive for many of our riders to participate and ensure we can deliver the first RDA Virtual National Championships in 2021, whilst:
- celebrating diversity;
- pioneering inclusion and;
- breaking down social barriers and discrimination towards people with disabilities.
Wherever you are in the country, whatever your challenge, your fundraising efforts will enable RDA UK to continue to support our disabled riders to continue to participate in this sporting event, specially designed to meet their needs and encourage participation.
