Julie Langans glass workshop and gallery are located at Cedar Farm Galleries in Mawdesley, where Julie produces bespoke glass artwork and giftware along with a range of glass-making courses for all abilities.

Julie wanted to help a charity that was close to the heart of the people in her community, so to select the chosen charity she collated and published a shortlist of 3 local charities that were put to a vote on the Julie Langan Glass Facebook page. The Brick achieved the highest number of votes and was selected to receive the donated money from the sale of the glass rainbows.

The Brick COVID-19 Crisis Fund

Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis there has been an unprecedented demand for the charity's services, in particular, The Brick's Wigan foodbank, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis. In the last 3 weeks , there has been an 295% increase in demand for food parcels overall, and the charity has recorded a 348% increase in the need for food parcels for children.

The Brick's donated food bank stock has decreased by 73% since the start of the crisis last month. This has been due, in the main, to the closure of the charity's Wigan and Leigh retail shops and the end of fundraising initiatives from the charity's many supporters; all income streams used to sustain the food bank.

Many of our staff continue to operate as key workers following government guidance providing, well-being, tenancy and emotional support to vulnerable individuals across the borough. We are here for people who have been relying on our services, as well as those who find themselves in new, difficult circumstances.

The Brick is making an appeal for financial support in these tough times, so we can keep up with high demand and maintain the level of support we are offering to people who need it. Were grateful for every donation and we would also like to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has donated to us in the past, and who continues to do so as well as the volunteers who have offered their support to us.
