For some people, lock down continues. Our services are needed more than ever for families who are shielding a disabled adult or child. Face masks mean lip-reading hearing impaired people are unable to communicate. Lip Syncing is the antidote to this!
Our charity provides services, support and advice to people of all ages who have sight or hearing loss. We enable people to live as independently as possible for as long as possible so that losing your sight or your hearing doesn't have to be about loss of freedom and increased isolation.
Story
Join our Lip Syncing challenge and help us raise money. Just video yourself for less than a minute lip syncing to a song of your choice, upload it to a social media platform with the hashtag #ThatSyncingFeeling, donate a minimum of £5 to the Wilberforce Trust and challenge one other person to do the same.
Why?
Even though restrictions are slowly being lifted for some people, lockdown continues. People with sight and hearing loss are often also vulnerable meaning they fear to leave the house.
Imagine how difficult it is to social distance if you have no idea how close people are to you because you can't see them.
How do you communicate with someone wearing a mask or PPE if your main method of communication is lip reading?
How do you home school and entertain a blind or deaf child while working from home?
In today's New Normal our services are needed more than ever and we are the only charity in York catering to such a wide range of needs but we need your help to keep these vital services running.
