Story
In 2016, we set out to create lasting change in Malawi. The water and sanitation crisis placed a heavy burden on communities and affected every aspect of daily life. In Kasungu and Mponela, the sewer system had broken, and the nearby water source was contaminated. Today, thanks to Thames Water supporters, both communities now have access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.
Earlier this year, we were thrilled to announce that Thames Water will be supporting a new project in Madagascar over the next several years. This new project will align with WaterAid’s ambitious new strategy and build upon the learnings and successes of Thames’ previous Thames Loves Malawi project.
In Madagascar, nearly half of the population doesn’t have access to clean water, and around 9 in 10 people don’t have a decent toilet of their own. Through this project, we’ll help bring people access to these essentials – enabling people to unlock their potential, break free from poverty, and change their lives for good.
Over the 40 years since WaterAid was founded by the UK water industry, we've made amazing progress, but we can't stop now.
Together, with your help, we can provide the solutions and build the systems, which will go on saving and transforming lives long into the future.
