Story
The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a local North East charity that provides specialist and adapted equipment to children aged 0-19 living with disabilities, additional needs, chronic and terminal illness. The types of equipment we can fund are not available through statutory services like the Local Authority or NHS; yet they are vital to the daily life of our Sunshine kids. These specific pieces of equipment enrich quality of life for not only the children, but their wider families and communities.
We are immensely proud to make a difference to the lives of local disabled children and their families through funding life-changing, specialist and adapted equipment; however, our support and service goes far beyond this..
In 2023 we are committed to:
Championing equity for children with disabilities through the equipment we fund so that they can access the opportunities they are entitled to throughout school and their youth. This is through working with local government, NHS and other organisations to be part of ongoing research, policy development and service provision.
Facilitating social mobility and access to participation amongst our Sunshine Families by offering free, inclusive and accessible events for their children and creating a nurturing and supportive community.
Reducing barriers for marginalised and ethnically minoritised communities to access support from us.
Creating a brighter future for our children by advocating on their behalf but also provide a platform for children and young people with lived experience of disability to share their stories and create change.
To actively engage in continual improvement of our services for families by seeking feedback and suggestions which is incorporated into project development and service provision.
