Maggie's Swansea is a local charity that provides FREE practical, emotional and social support to Men, Women & Children with cancer, their families and friends, across South West Wales. We offer a range of support including benefits advice, children's counselling services, bereavement support, cancer specific support groups, nutrition advice and post-treatment courses.

We currently see over 13,000 centre visits a year and this number continues to grow. We rely solely on the generosity of our supporters and receive no funding from the government or NHS. Every penny raised stays in Swansea and helps us to continue supporting people with cancer, their families and friends across South West Wales.

We caught up with Luisa and her father to hear why they chose to support Maggies Swansea and run the JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2019 for #TeamMaggies.

Luisa said:

Myself and my father started running in September 2018, and we aimed to run a half marathon this year for a charity. When we seen the endless and wonderful work that Maggies does to support and help people with cancer, we decided to run the JCP Swansea Half Marathon in aid of them. Throughout training and on the day, we had so much support from Maggies; from emails asking how our training was going, to waving flags on the streets and shouting and cheering our names, which inspired us to go on and not stop. We raised a total of £612 and have never been so thrilled to hand this money over to this wonderful charity!! Thank you Team Maggies!
