Story
#Team Hallam are running the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 26 September to raise money for the Sanctuary Scholarships as part of the Hallam Fund.
The Sanctuary Scholarships, which are match funded by the University, recognise the determination, aspirations and resilience of asylum seeking students, and their abilities and potential to succeed. Consisting of a full tuition fee waiver, an annual maintenance grant of £4000, and a bespoke package of tailored support, the scholarships aim to remove the barriers facing asylum seeking students, so they have a real opportunity to make the most of what university can offer, regardless of their personal circumstances.
Sheffield Hallam University has also been named a University of Sanctuary in recognition of its outstanding support for refugees and people seeking sanctuary across all areas of higher education. The University of Sanctuary accreditation, given by the charity City of Sanctuary, recognises and celebrates the good practice of universities welcoming sanctuary seekers into their communities and fostering a culture of welcome and inclusion for all.
