Story
The Disabilities Trust was founded in 1980 by a small group of passionate and determined people who shared a belief that everybody should have the right to live the life they chose, in an environment that was suited to achieving this.
Fast forward 40 years, and we have a lot to be proud of. Weve evolved and expanded and we now provide services all over the UK to people with acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities and autism and learning disabilities, as well as running our specialist school for children with autism. The passion and commitment of our staff is still at the heart of everything we do, its who we are, and has never been more visible than during the recent, challenging times.
To mark our 40th year, wed like to ask for your support. Any donations we receive are vital to helping the people we support to live their best lives. So, to help us raise funds, could you take part in an activity relating to the number 40? This may be walking 40 lengths of your garden, holding a plank for 40 seconds or doing 40 minutes of running. Alternatively, you could knit or crochet 40 blanket squares, or quilt 40 squares and sell the blanket, if you wanted to! Or you could be sponsored to stay silent for 40 minutes or hours, or to watch 40 films or read 40 books.
Anything you want to do to raise funds for The Disabilities Trust is greatly appreciated.
