Young people urgently need your help.
Today, and every day, seven young people will hear the words “you have cancer” and right now, with healthcare services close to breaking point and diagnosis taking longer, we’re fearful for their future. With your help, we can fund urgently needed specialist nurses and youth workers to provide vital support.
“Just having someone to listen is a really big thing. There were times when I told my Teenage Cancer Trust Nurse, Charlene: ‘I don’t want to do this any more’. She would ask, ‘What can we do to help you?’ Even the conversations got me through to the next day. She saved my life more than once and she’s the reason I am still here.” Hex, Manchester
No young person should have to go through the trauma of cancer without age-appropriate support, and all should have equal access to specialist treatment and care.
But too many young people find themselves at the mercy of a postcode lottery. Depending on where they live, some young people with cancer currently receive little or no age-appropriate support outside of their standard clinical care.
We urgently need your help to reach more teenagers and young adults with cancer, so that we can be there for them when they need us most, whoever and wherever they are.
