Tafika Youth Organisation (www.tafikamalawi.com) are a community based group of volunteers operating with over 500 villages in northern Malawi. As part of their drive towards behaviour change they set up the Tafika Sports Academy to encourage the youth to engage in netball, football and volleyball. The Tafika teams are now providing players to the Malawi National teams and local games draw huge crowds.
The players lack the basics. Often balls are made from old plastic bags, and players go barefoot, but the energy and enthusiasm for sport is immensely strong among the youth.
Zambia and Malawi Community Partnership have been working with UK based football, netball and running clubs as well as sports shops to collect pre-loved sports shoes which can be re-used by these young athletes. We need funds to pay for these shoes to be shipped to Malawi and your donation will help us achieve this. We can send a box of 13 pairs of shoes (enough for a team plus substitutes) for £17.50 so every little helps.
We are asking people to donate just £2, the minimum amount allowed on JustGiving, as this is enough to send one pair of shoes on their way to a new life. If you'd like to donate more, obviously we'd be delighted.
