Look around you. How many internet enabled devices can you count?
The Sophie Hayes Foundation empowers survivors of human trafficking through our unique employability programmes, but in our last intake we had to turn women away who didn't have access to any. No tablet, no smart phone, no computer. We never want that to be the case again.
Our programmes need to be accessible to any woman who needs them, which means we have to do more to enable them to join. We have funding to supply internet for women who need it, but we urgently need help to buy each woman a device that will allow her to get online.
With a new lockdown and the ongoing situation with Covid-19 we have transitioned to a fully remote programme, but the women we work with are some of the most vulnerable and least economically stable in society and they don't have access to the kind of technology that many of us take for granted.
We need to purchase an entry level tablet for every woman we work with, with need higher than ever that means 300 new tablets this year. £50 can change someone's life. £250 would help empower 5 women on their paths to sustainable freedom.
Update4 February 2021: Thank you to everyone who has donated, we've reached our initial campaign goal that has allowed us to purchase tablets for the women starting our programme this month. We have now increased our goal to help us purchase devices for every woman this year.
