As an organization with more than a century of experience in caring for our community, the Valley of the Sun YMCA responds quickly to these challenges; creatively expanding our programs to meet our community when, where and how we are needed most.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can continue to ensure the health, safety and well-being of every YMCA child and family. We are working to pave the way for a bright future to all of our community no matter their age, race, gender or socioeconomic status.
DROWNING PREVENTION
Y programs provide critical safety around water knowledge and teach swimming skills for youth and adults.
In 2022, the Southwest Valley Family YMCA will:
Provide 100 youth with swim lessons free of charge
Provide 500 youth with free or subsidized Safety Around Water programs
Provide scholarships for youth interested in becoming lifeguards
DEVELOPING COMMUNITY LEADERS
Y programs provide experiences that build a sense of belonging and welcome young people to develop their self-identity.
In 2022, the Southwest Valley Family YMCA will:
Provide Youth & Government for 10 students free of charge
Host two summer workshops for Leadership in Training program
Provide scholarships for 20 teens to participate in teen leadership programs
ADVANCING CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Y programs are committed to executing experiences rich in social/emotional learning because youth do better when they have supportive adults nurturing their potential.
In 2022, the Y will: Provide scholarships for children to have access to our programs regardless of their ability to pay
PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVING
Y membership and wellness programs can improve the health and well-being of our community to reduce chronic disease, obesity, and improve mental health.
In 2022, the Y will:
Provide members of the community with free personal training sessions
Provide quarterly socialization and wellness events for seniors
Provide wellness programs that address health concerns of the Southwest Valley
