We know that lung cancer is a disease that affects so many people; young and old, men and women, smoker, non-smoker and never smoker, lung cancer can affect anyone. Taking more lives than breast, prostate and pancreatic cancers combined, lung cancer tears thousands of families apart.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to supporting people affected by all forms of the disease and leading the charge to improve outcomes so people can live through lung cancer rather than die of it.
In June, we took our biggest step forward in achieving this when a national targeted screening programme for lung cancer was finally announced. This is something we have campaigned for and funded research towards for nearly 30 years because we know the good it can do. We know the lives it can save.
Once fully implemented, screening is expected to detect as many as 9000 people with cancer earlier, when it is easier to treat and treat to cure.
However, our job is far from done and we remain committed to improving early detection and treatment for everyone affected by lung cancer.
This is why your support is so vital. With your help, your enthusiasm and your determination, we can continue to make waves to improve outcomes for people with lung cancer and save more lives.
So jump in this November (literally) and swim for change.
