Story
Zion, bringer of good news, take yourself up onto a high mountain . . . Isaiah 40:9
Going up onto a high mountain and bringing good news is worshiping the Lord in love and charity, which lie at our deepest level and are therefore described as being highest. Secrets of Heaven 795
Frank was a man on a mission. A serious mission. Apart from being a Swedenborgian minister, a painter and a writer, Rev. Frank Rose also challenged himself to climb mountains. More than that he would take others with him to experience the "high mountain moment" spoken about in Isaiah 40. He lived what Swedenborg wrote; he knew that the high mountain experience makes us grateful at our core and invites us to give back what we've been given in charity and love.
So choose your Mountain, grab your friends and go! We invite you to have a high mountain experience this month as we honor the natural world, Rev. Rose's work, and all of our loved ones past and present. Hike for yourself, or hike for someone who has passed--all of the proceeds go directly to the Swedenborg Foundation where we help everyone searching for spiritual truth and resilience find and understand the transformative ideas in the works of Emanuel Swedenborg.
First: Set your goal! We're giving away two original hand-crafted prizes to the highest altitude and the longest hikes achieved. Check out our extensive hiking resources for some ideas, or contact our Hike-Master General Gwen: gwilliams@swedenborg.com
Second: Start your own fundraising page here! Send it to your friends and family and get them on board! Better yet, invite them on the hike for even more fun. Like the Rose family, you may want to do it in honor of a loved one.
Third: Let us know how you did! Please share with us your numbers (altitude and distance) and please SHARE your hike-tastic pictures at the summit so everyone can celebrate with you! [#SwedenborgSummitChallenge #SummitChallenge
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Please talk with your doctor and discuss your abilities and possible medical conditions that may be exacerbated by hiking/walking. Set a goal that makes sense for you!
DO NOT post where & when you are going to hike, only where you have hiked for online safety.
