Story
After the success of last year's event (despite a terrible storm) Swans Big Sleep Out is back. On Friday 15th November 2024, Matthew’s House and Swansea City Foundation will again host the Swans Big Sleepout at Swansea.com Stadium.
The event will raise awareness of homelessness (and some of its causes), isolation, and deprivation, issues facing so many in our community in Swansea.
Sleeping out for 1 night does not compare to the real thing but does give an idea and hopefully a better understanding of what some people are dealing with, especially as we move into the winter months, with nights getting longer, darker, and colder.
You are invited to sign up as an individual or a business to spend the night at the Swansea.com Stadium and raise crucial funds for the two charities who are doing their best to tackle these issues head on.
"The support we get from Swansea City Football Club and their Foundation is very special and after the success of last year’s event we at Matthew's House are delighted to work again with Swans Foundation on the Swans Big Sleep Out 2024. Homelessness, in particular sleeping rough, is not straightforward, and this crucial event helps to raise awareness of some of the complicated realities of the issues. It also highlights the work we do, and the wonderful volunteers we have, so that more people in the city can get involved. Matthews House has been supporting people in Swansea for 8 years and we know that working together with friends and partners is always better for everyone. This event does exactly that.”
Thom Lynch, Matthew's House Project Leader
"This event, in partnership with a wonderful charity partner Matthew’s House, will hopefully raise much needed funds to help make a positive change in how we support homeless people in Swansea.
Last season's Sleep Out had 70 sleepers and raised over £28,000. It was a very humbling experience and I would encourage anyone to sign up for this years event. This season we are holding the event within the bowl of the stadium, so we hope to get 100 sleepers taking part and raise £30,000."
