Running The Big Half 2024

Our nimble team of 14 runners are working together to raise vital funds for Coin Street’s youth night, making a difference for young people in Waterloo and North Southwark. On Sunday 1 September, we’ll be taking on The Big Half - a 13.1 mile course, weaving through London from Tower Bridge to the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Some of us have never ran before! The half marathon will be a mental and physical challenge, so we’ll be training hard to make sure we get across that finish line. About Coin Street youth night

Coin Street’s youth night runs every Thursday offering a safe and inclusive space for 8–16-year-olds to have fun, make friends and be themselves. Over the past year, 127 young people have attended at least one session, and it is growing in popularity.

Youth services in the UK have been cut by 77% over more than a decade, so keeping youth night running is even more important, especially as it is one of the few remaining free after-school provisions in the area.

The team who run youth night play a crucial role in the lives of young people who join the sessions. They are role models and create a welcoming environment where young people can boost their confidence and social skills.

Currently, youth night is running on limited funding, which means that we are limited on what we can offer. Your donation will go towards new activities, suggested by young people who attend. Ideas so far have included tennis, cooking, candle making, DJ workshop, boxing, song writing, kick boxing and game design!

Thanks to you, we will continue to run youth night all year round, in all weathers. The new activities will keep it fresh and exciting for young people and will mean we can accommodate the growing number of participants.
