Story
Asalaamu 'alaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Respected Brothers and Sisters
A little bit about our history.
In June 2017 we purchased a Church for £760,000 and converted it into a masjid named Masjid Esa Ibn Maryam, which opened for use in January 2018.
Masjid Esa Ibn Maryam is located on Etwall Rd, Hall Green, Birmingham. It provides many services, including but not limited to;
5 times daily salah including Jumu'ah. Over 200,000 salah's facilitated each year.
Evening and weekend Madrassah for 300 children (Al Quraan Academy) including over 60 children memorising the Qur'an (Tahfeedh).
More than 40 lessons of Hadīth and Qur'an, Khutbahs and Reminders as well as dedicated courses, imparted monthly, for brothers and sisters.
Over 100 students benefit from 121 Ijaaza, Tajweed and Qir'aat courses weekly.
As the Muslim community has grown in South Birmingham and Solihull the needs and demands for services has grown.
The opportunity arose to purchase the York Pub, York Road, Hall Green. This location is about 1.3 miles from the existing masjid, Masjid Esa Ibn Maryam. The purchase price for the new site was £1.1 Million pounds. This new site has been named Masjid Sulayman Bin Dawud.
The new site will include all the services being offered at Masjid Esa Ibn Maryam and due to size and location will be able to expand services to include:
Funeral Services.
Dedicated Sports and Youth Facilities.
More structured Advanced Islamic studies programmes.
Alhamdulillah through the fadhl of Allah Ta'ala, the du'aas of all our brothers and sisters, the generous donations and as substantial Qardh Hassan loans, we were able to purchase these sites and complete some of the renovations.
We have been paying the loans back to the lenders but there is still a long way to go. We will also need to extensively renovate Masjid Sulayman Bin Dawud before it can become operational, hence we are fund raising.
