Story
The global COVID-19 pandemic has created an international crisis for the shipping industry this year and left hundreds of thousands stranded at sea or unable to join ships to work.
400,000 seafarers across the globe are estimated to have been severely impacted by the pandemic
International travel restrictions have made crew changes incredibly difficult and in many cases impossible, meaning some seafarers have been on board for more than 17 months without a break.
ISWAN's helpline has taken over 17,000 calls and messages from seafarers and their families so far this year
SeafarerHelp, our free, 24-hour, international helpline, has experienced an unprecedented demand from those seeking help. Between the helpline and our staff in India, the Philippines and Nigeria, ISWAN has helped and supported over 36,000 seafarers and their families during this difficult year.
Many seafarers will spend the holidays away from their loved ones
SeafarerHelp will be available 24/7 throughout the holidays for any seafarer or family member who needs us, but we need your help.
YOU can make a difference
It costs around £50 an hour to run our helpline so every donation counts. You can help us be there for seafarers and their families around the world by donating to ISWAN, supported by Nautilus Labs.
