Optometry school always seemed like a far-away goal, and so it is amazing to think that I am half-way through my first year and that I have already learned so much.
Coming from a low-income household and as a first-generation student, I am grateful that my scholarship allows me to focus more on my academics and worry less about working enough hours to meet my educational expenses.
Last year, I graduated with a master's degree in Human Nutrition after seeing how malnutrition, both in the US and in Ethiopia, is connected to eye health.
