Story
Join us this summer to help ensure no child has to face cancer alone.
Every month across the island of Ireland, another 40 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer.
This summer alone, that is another 120 families in need of support, so we’re rallying support for Cancer Fund for Children through a series of fun and engaging events aimed at raising vital funds and spreading awareness about childhood cancer.
From June to August, we’re inviting families, community groups, schools, and corporate teams to come together and take on your very own summer themed event. Whether you choose one of our ideas or come up with your own, every single penny and pound raised will make such an incredible difference for children and young people across the island of Ireland impacted by cancer.
GET INVOLVED:
1) Host a Picnic or BBQ: Gather your friends, family and neighbours for a summery outdoor gathering. Charge a small entry fee or ask for donations in support of Cancer Fund For Children.
2) Daily Walking Challenge: Encourage participants to pledge a daily steps target throughout the summer. Participants can seek sponsorship from friends and colleagues for each step taken, with all proceeds going towards Cancer Fund for Children.
3) Tea Morning: Organize a cosy tea or coffee morning in your community or workplace. Whether it’s in person or virtual, bring people together over a cup of tea and some delicious treats, all while raising funds for a worthy cause.
4) School Sports Day Fundraiser: Coordinate with your school to host a sports day with a charitable twist! Incorporate fun activities, games and competitions with all proceeds going towards supporting children and young people impacted by cancer.
5) Come up with you own summer event that you know your guests will love!

Cancer Fund for Children also invited us to enjoy a short break at their therapeutic centre, Daisy Lodge. This gave us a much-needed chance to relax as a family in beautiful surroundings looking out at the majestic Mourne Mountains. We got such a warm welcome from the fabulous staff. We were given a complimentary relaxation therapy, delicious food and fun family challenges through art and play. The fantastic facilities in Daisy Lodge for seriously ill children and their loved ones provide an opportunity to meet and chat with others. Speaking to other families affected by childhood cancer can be just what’s needed to reaffirm the positives and give us the strength to give Sophie all the support she needs.
Sophie (aged 8) was diagnosed with Leukaemia in January 2023 and her family shared these thoughts on our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down. We are currently building a second Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo and hope to start welcoming families there in January 2026.
