Story
We are raising funds and awareness for families living with childhood cancer.
On Friday 16th August, Children with Cancer UK was due to introduce Suki and her story to the audience at our brand new music event, SummerChime. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control the event had to be cancelled.
We were so grateful that our headline artist, Liam Payne, took the time to meet with Suki and her family for a fun photo shoot at One Aldwych Hotel in London.
Suki was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in January 2017, aged just four. Her journey included long spells in hospital, gruelling chemotherapy, hair loss and extreme side-effects from steroid medication. Thankfully Suki has now finished her treatment and on Wednesday 7th August experienced the moment every child battling cancer looks forward to - chiming the end of treatment bell.
Suki's mum Rachel said of their journey
It is heart warming to see the child you remember shining through more and more. It has been a tough road. We will never take anything for granted again, for no-one truly knows what tomorrow holds.
Suki is one of the lucky ones. Each week 10 children and young people tragically lose their lives to cancer. Children with Cancer UK is dedicated to raising and investing funds for vital specialist research to save the life of every child with cancer and keep their family together.
What began as a small memorial charity in 1988 has evolved into a major force, raising over £250 million and investing in over 200 research projects to help fight the injustice of cancer in children.
Thanks to our ground-breaking research we have helped to improve children's cancer survival rates from 64% in 1990 to 84% in 2017.
We will not stop until every child survives.
Thank you for supporting Children with Cancer UK.
