As many of you may have followed, the conflict that erupted on 15 April 2023 in Sudan escalated with ethnically targeted atrocities cited as genocide in places like Darfur. We had been warning against this for some time, for instance, in our report over a year before: Can we prevent the spread of renewed atrocities in Sudan?

As the conflict has not abated we are now training community leaders and local actors on how to identify and document ethnically motivated violence that may amount to genocide or persecution.
