Story
Our firewalk will be raising vital funds for the schools charities.
These are comprised of the schools own charity:
Bramston Bursary Foundation - www.stswithuns.com/about-us/bramston-bursary-foundation
The foundation supports girls from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds with fully funded boarding places at St Swithuns, via a transformational bursary. Working with a variety of expert partners to find our beneficiaries, we are secure in the knowledge that we vastly improve future outcomes for these girls, by providing these life-changing opportunities. We want to offer more lifelines every academic year, but we rely entirely on fundraising to be able to do so. We need our school community to support our mission and our ambition.
Alongside the Bramston Bursary Foundation, there are three charities chosen by our students:
Planned Parenthood - www.plannedparenthood.org
An American charity (not for profit) that supports women and men with birth control options, sexual health care, abortion advice, cancer screenings.
Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) - www.hart-uk.org
HART is committed to serving people in need, especially those who are or who have been suffering from oppression and persecution. Our twofold remit combines aid and advocacy; providing resources for humanitarian aid and serving as advocates for those with whom we work, who often are neglected by international media and unable to communicate with the wider world.
Kids for Kids - www.kidsforkids.org.uk
Tackling malnutrition sustainably with goat's milk
By providing sustainable help to families in Darfur, Sudan we hope to transform lives in the long term. Our Kids for Kids Goat Loans give nutrition to children and provides mothers with income to pay for medicines, food, schooling and emergencies: helping people help themselves sustainably.
A specialist goat loan can be accessed by some of the poorest 15 percent of families in each Kids for Kids village. They are lent six goats to provide milk immediately for the children and to enable mothers to have a livelihood as the little flock multiplies. At the end of two years six goats are passed on to another poor family, and so on.
All of these worthy causes will receive an equal share of everyones fundraising.
Thank you so much for supporting participants of our fundraising fire-walk.
