Story

Your donations will help motivate them to get on the dance floor, and all the money raised will help St Rocco's Hospice continue its amazing care for the Warrington community. We would like to thank you for your support.

Meet the stars of the show! 2022 Strictly St Rocco's Dancers are...

Ian Cox

Centre Director, Golden Square Shopping Centre

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

Golden Square, just like St Roccos, has been at the heart of the community in Warrington for over 40 years. For me being able to support St Roccos through this great fundraiser feels like the least Golden Square can do to help those people that have been shopping with us for years and have now turned to the Hospice for support. Seeing the difference this support can make to the community in which I work every single day will make all the training and embarrassment completely worthwhile.

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

Im a Dad of 4, so Im guessing that makes me completely qualified to Dad Dance! and thats about as far as my experience goes. Im looking forward to giving this a go, but have to admit Im quite nervous about the whole thing. We dont have too long to learn our dance routines and this takes me completely out of my comfort zone.

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

I have no idea what this experience is going to be like if Im being honest, I just hope its lots of fun and we raise a lot of money along the way. Everyone is in the same boat (I think!) so at least we are all in it together!

Carole Hugall

Trustee, St Rocco's Hospice

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

I was asked to dance in this years Strictly competition by Sonya the CEO and how could I refuse?

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

I have no previous dance training except ballet classes when I was at primary school. I am feeling excited about dancing if a little bit apprehensive!

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

I am hoping that it will be fun and maybe introduce me to a new hobby. More importantly though I am hoping it will raise a great deal of money for St Roccos.

Russ Scanlon

Consultant, Huddle Hospitality

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

My wife was treated at St Roccos before passing away in December 2021. I still receive bereavement counselling support from the team and wanted to give something back for all the support weve received.

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

Absolutely no dance experience at all- apart from drunken Dad dancing! Im pretty terrified to be honest but looking forward to pushing myself outside my comfort zone and learning something new.

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

Im sure the experience will be hilarious for all the people watching and Im hoping to have loads of fun and raise loads of money for an amazing cause!

Victoria Ditchfield

Director, Bmech Group Ltd

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

B-engineering Group have a long standing relationship with St. Rocco's so when I was asked to take part there was only one answer. The support the hospice provides to the people of Warrington is exceptional & we are proud to be able to contribute in some way.

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

To say I am an amateur is an understatement....I lack coordination & natural rhythm which are two pretty fundamental skills. Before signing up I shared this with the Rocco's team & they were brilliant at putting my mind at rest & filling me with confidence about the training programme. I'm so excited to see the end result as any progress is going to huge! I just hope I do St. Roccos proud on the night.

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

I hope it is going to be fun, glamorous & heart felt to everyone who has needed the support of St Rocco's over the years.

Chris Hodgkinson

Director, HC Promotions

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

I decided to support St Roccos after one of my friends Dads was in St Roccos hospice and after seeing 1st hand the fantastic job the staff and volunteers do I knew it was a worthwhile cause and the money raised will go to a much needed place.

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

The only dancing experience I have is thinking I look great at 2am after a few too many shandies on a random nightclub dancefloor! This is going to be very different.

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

I am really looking forward to the experience but also very nervous as this is completely out of my comfort zone but all for a very good cause and a good laugh along the way.

Robyn Pollard

Personal Trainer, RKP Personal Training

Why did you decide to support St Roccos?

I chose to support St Roccos as it is an incredible charity supporting very worthy local care work which is close to my heart. It is run by brilliant people who work tirelessly to keep it going and it is an honour to support their work.

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

I once danced in the Reebok (now Macron) stadium as a very nervous 11 year old and did enjoy it as far as I can remember. Since then however, my dancing experience amounts to nothing but embarrassing dad dancing after a couple drinks. I dont feel confident but I feel very excited to give it a go and have fun regardless of how silly I might end up looking.

What are you hoping the experience of dancing for St Roccos is going to be like?

Im hoping the experience is going to be as fun as I imagine it to be. It will be a challenge, which is what drew me to want to take part in the first place, but at the end of the day its going to be a good laugh for a great cause, and what could be better than that!

What is your previous dancing experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

I have zero experience in dancing but Im up for fun and a good laugh Im really looking forward to get going and look forward to the end show.
