Story
On the night of 20/21st Jan 19 night a fire broke out at the Stramash Fort William site and our beautiful hand built castles (wooden yurts) were burnt to the ground. Thanks to the wonderful work of the Scottish Fire and Rescue service, the blaze was contained and the fire extinguished.
We closed for one day (Monday 21st Jan 19) to ensure that the area was secure, completing risk assessments and putting together considered arrangements for temporary welfare shelter for the children outdoors.
The care of our children is paramount. We are reviewing each child's care plan and have strategies in place for their care over this temporary welfare period. The Care Inspectorate remain fully informed in regards to our high quality care provision and we will continue to update them on developments.
Whilst this is a shock to us all and a bitter disappointment after the work and care that has gone into these buildings, we are so grateful for the support and many offers of help from our community of parents and friends.
Stramash Fort William is open for business and determined to build an even better nursery space for our children. You can help us do that.
