Story
The church provides a spiritual centre for the parish of Knowle and seeks to support the community through various life events or rites of passage - baptisms, weddings, funerals, school services, remembering those who have died, and gathering at key festivals during the year.
It provides a sacred space to celebrate, and a place to mourn, a place to pray, and a place to worship, a place to learn, and a place where all generations can grow together.
The church also serves the wider community of Knowle in a number of ways: a weekly community cafe provides space for conversation and great food; a weekly foodbank provides food parcels for families and individuals who need a bit of extra support; the church is regularly open for prayer, providing sanctuary space in a busy location. The church is growing its links with the local community garden and exploring the way that spiritual connections can be made. The church is also in the process of developing its own vegetable patch that will create opportunities for the community to participate in growing produce, that can then be offered either to the cafe, the foodbank, or to prepare meals for those in need. The church buildings are also used by many, varied community groups - a day choir, a pre-school, a toddler group, uniformed organisations, a children's performing arts club, table tennis, and a Bulgarian school.
