Story

Want to put a spring in your step this autumn?

Join our STEP this September challenge!

By signing up to 'STEP this September' you will be joining an army of likeminded and inspiring civil servants who have pledged to make a real difference to countless people in need, during the month of September. Challenge yourself to walk 10,000 steps a day throughout September and raise much needed funds.

It's impossible to predict what life will throw at us. Illness, bereavement, relationship breakdown, money worries, the strain of caring for loved ones; are some of the reasons why people turn to The Charity for Civil Servants for help.

In the last three years, people have requested help from the Charity over 180,000 times. 54,000 of these requests came in the last year alone.

The funds that you raise will go towards making positive changes to improve the lives of civil servants facing difficult times. People like Joyce...

Joyce, Ministry of Justice, has always loved walking. Last year, she took part in 2020 in the hope of helping others in need. Although she has suffered with health problems over the years, she found happiness by taking part and giving back to her community.

After feeling so low for such a long time, I wanted to help others who might be going through a tough time, whatever the reasons may be. That's when I came across The Charity for Civil Servants who supports people like me and they can only continue to do this, if we in turn, support them. I decided to walk for the Charity and raise some money. I just thought, I can make a difference by walking, it's so simple. Someone's going to get some help if I do it... that was my motivation.

Joyce was at a time when she was experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety. By the end of challenge, she found that she was sleeping better, her concentration levels had improved and she'd even dropped two dress sizes.

Like me, you can start small. Take a first step and sign up to STEP this September. There are times in our lives we need help. You can't always go to family or friends. The Charity needs OUR support to do it. Support the Charity because one day, you may need their support.

We know that physical activity is beneficial to your mental health and wellbeing and we also know that having a community behind you makes life easier.

Throughout the pandemic The Charity for Civil Servants has continued to provide support to current, former and retired civil servants when times are tough, even though we've had to cancel most of our fundraising activities.

We helped Joyce because she matter to us.

Civil Servants matter.

You matter.
