Story
You can start your four week challenge of walking 10,000 steps a day on any day in February to mark Heart Month. Set yourself a small fundraising target of £100 or more to help to achieve it and help reduce preventable disease from high cholesterol.
Do it anywhere outdoors or on a treadmill, at any time of day, on your own or with a friend, relative or colleague. It can improve your overall health and help lower your cholesterol.
Being active is a major part of looking after your cholesterol levels and keeping your heart healthy. It can raise your HDL cholesterol levels, the good cholesterol which removes fat from your arteries. It can also lower your LDL cholesterol, the type of cholesterol that gets laid down in your arteries. It can help to lose fat from around your middle which is important for heart health.
HEART UKs website information is my bible, and it has helped me to change my life. Having kidney disease and an underactive thyroid, I was having my yearly blood test which picked up that I had high cholesterol total score 7.9. I was told over the phone by a trainee GP. I was terrified I was heading for a heart attack or stroke.
Were so proud of our achievements during the pandemic in 2021/22, thanks to your support.
Watch our Impact Video which shows how our work has brought about some significant changes to prevent premature disease and death from cholesterol and other blood fat conditions.
It is thanks to your donations, that we are able to continue our vital work.
Thank you.
