Story
We all know that moving more, being outside and connecting with nature is great for mental and physical health. Now, studies have shown that those with high levels of "nature-connectedness" act in more environmentally friendly ways too. So starting this Earth Day (April 22nd) for 14 days, we're combining them all and asking you to Step Out for Nature by participating in our step challenge designed to get you moving, connect with your environment and raise vital funds for TreeSisters and the future of our planet.
Whether you live in a city or deep in the wilderness, this challenge is truly for EVERYONE and all abilities, so rally your colleagues, grandkids, friends and neighbours and get active, reconnect and give back.
You can also follow along on social media and share how you connect via the hashtag #StepOutForNature.
Getting Started
- Join our dedicated JustGiving campaign page here by setting up your personal or team fundraiser. Just click 'Start Fundraising' and follow the easy steps. We suggest opting for 'fitness at home' and then choosing 'personal walk'.
Alternatively, if you are not getting involved but want to give back to nature and support others, click donate now and give what you can. Also, remember, if you're a UK Tax Payer, you can select Gift Aid to give more at no extra cost.
- Download our Nature Connection bingo card full of exciting ideas to check off while you up the miles.
- Start sharing with friends, family, colleagues, the mailman... We've made some handy Social Media graphics to help you start shouting about your fantastic fundraising efforts. Download our social media graphics here.
- Lastly, get moving, connecting and raising vital funds for a nature-filled future.
We've purposefully not set step targets to keep this as inclusive as possible. You know what a stretch to you is, and every challenge, big or small, will help raise vital funds.
This Earth Day, Step Out (and up) for Nature. Good luck and deepest gratitude.

About TreeSisters
TreeSisters is a global social change and reforestation charity that places forest restoration into everyone's hands. We fund ethical, community-led planting projects that empower women and support local and indigenous communities. Together we have so far funded over 27 million trees across multiple locations, including Brazil, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Borneo, Kenya, Cameroon, West Papua, Mozambique, Nepal and Madagascar.
We also advocate for nature and work to tackle the root cause of climate change by educating and inspiring everyone on the importance of reconnecting and living in alignment with our natural environment. We embed women's empowerment, community, biodiversity, and nature into everything we do and seek to challenge dominant power structures while employing a rights-based approach to conservation. We also encourage a global shift from a consumer to a restorer culture in order to take the necessary steps to protect our planet and live more harmoniously with our natural world before it's too late.
