Story
We're determined to be there for vulnerable people who need our help and support to live well during the ongoing pandemic. So were running a support line service to offer advice and support.
The service is about support, conversation and making contact with people as well as about solving problems that are causing anxiety," said Avril Ishmael, who is the Team Leader support service. "Its about reassuring them and letting them know they matter to people and to us. "
£5 covers the cost of one phone call to the support line, enabling a person, like Joe* to access vital support and advice during the pandemic.
Joe* is a resident at a group home for people with learning disabilities. The home called the support line because Joe was very anxious and frightened by the pandemic. One of our team spoke with Joe. The conversation helped to reassure him, and enabled him to develop a clearer perspective on what is happening, so he was better able to manage his anxiety. Our team will continue to talk with him whenever he needs.
£30 can keep the support line staffed and running for one hour, ready to take a call from someone struggling with stress of anxiety.
Guideposts is a mental health and wellbeing charity. We exist to support people to have a better quality of life, whatever their circumstances. Now more than ever this work is vital. Please join us in supporting people like Joe with a donation today.
