Story
We're creating a better world for people who stammer. Working for a society where people who stammer are able to fulfil their potential and enjoy respect and consideration.
"As someone who stammers, the BSA has been a great help through the years and I love seeing what new things youre doing to create awareness about stammering."
The British Stammering Association, trading as Stamma , offers support and information for those that stammer, their families, employers and educators. We also campaign for the rights of those who stammer, challenging the often lazy stereotypes associated with stammering. We want the public to understand what it is to stammer, to appreciate the daily challenges faced by people who stammer and create a more tolerant and understanding world.
Your donations will help us provide people who stammer, and those close to them, with the information and assistance they need through our website, helpline and our soon to launch webchat service. We also host Open Days, Conferences and support to local self-help and meetup groups across the country as well as national stammering networks.
I had a long conversation with one of your helpline advisors which helped to restore my confidence and self-esteem a lot, and it also made me feel I never needed to feel alone with my stammer.
Our free, confidential and anonymous helpline is open weekdays 10am-noon and 6pm-8pm call 0808 802 0002 . We hope to launch a webchat service in 2020 so that we can help even more people.
