Story
St Peter’s Church, the iconic image of Southborough, part of many of our life stories, and soon to be on the sign in the Town Square, would welcome the support of its community.
We get quite a few calls about ‘the bells’. Many people love the sound of them and get in touch when, like now, they are silent (some work needs doing to the frame that holds them). Others get in touch when the bells are working, to say that the sound disturbs their sleep.
Do you ‘like them’ or ‘loathe them’. Either way, perhaps you could help with a project to do two things.
1. Repair the frame and mechanism so the bells ring out again during the day
2. Install a ‘silencer’ so that the bells are muted between 11.00pm and 7.00am
We need around £5000 to complete both pieces of work. If you’d like to hear them ringing across the town again, and/or if you’d like a more peaceful sleep, we’d be grateful if you could make a small donation to help us out.
Thank you
