It's not just about crossing the finish line for our team of passionate advocates. It's about supporting adults who have faced a life of multiple disadvantages and are therefore suffering a combination of problems including homelessness, addiction and other complex needs.

THINK someone struggling with housing instability, financial hardship and an undiagnosed learning difficulty. THINK someone entering adulthood with a history of childhood abuse, inadequate coping mechanisms and limited support. They might face difficulties finding and maintaining employment due to learning difficulties or emotional struggles leading to financial instability and difficulty securing stable housing. THINK someone facing overwhelming challenges who turns to unhealthy coping mechanisms to manage stress and pain including self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, developing risky behaviours and withdrawing from social interactions.

Each disadvantage presents a hurdle but cumulatively, they will feel insurmountable and can lead to homelessness, addictions, further mental and physical health conditions and offending behaviour.

These are of course simplified scenarios and individual experiences vary greatly however it demonstrates the complexity evident for everyone of our service users and residents.

By supporting Team SSJ, you will help us to offer meaningful activities, education and work experience on top of the therapeutic support we offer helping to build trust, relationships, individual resilience, self-efficacy and ultimately help them to fulfil their potential despite the multiple disadvantages they face.
