Severe food, gas and fuel shortages has meant drivers have died waiting in hot six hour-long queues, and 13hour daily power cuts which are affecting businesses, supermarkets, and hospitals which have had to cancel operations.

Poor rural families and children who were already struggling to survive food insecurity, ill health and poverty are now suffering malnourishment and starvation.

So what has happened?

Sri Lanka is on the brink of bankruptcy, and has run out of money to pay for imported goods including food and fuel supplies, medicine and resources, and doctors are warning the toll of this crisis could far surpass the Covid19 pandemic.

The Sri Lankan government have delayed asking for financial help to buy the imported goods the country needs, and they havent asked for humanitarian aid so, our help and yours, is needed now more than ever.

So what can we do?

Their Future Today has successfully worked in Sri Lanka for the past 17 years, to provide holistic solutions through facilitating empowerment, providing school resources for education and training, to help reunite and strengthen families to prevent child abandonment.

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we concentrated on feeding the poor, without employment or income to help strengthen multi generational families to keep them together.

To date, with donations from our supporters, and a great local team, weve distributed hundreds of essential emergency grocery parcels equating to 370,000 meals.

Not only to help feed and educate the future of Sri Lanka, but a future free from hunger to keep families together, and children out of orphanages.

A donation of £5 per week or £20 per month could help us provide enough food to prevent malnourishment and starvation for one family for a month.
