Story
What is Spring For The Croft?
Our 'SPRING FOR THE CROFT' campaign was set up by Earth in Common, to help people reconnect with nature, bring people together either in person or virtually and move their bodies to give a boost of spring vitality and celebrate, as well as raise funds for our charity experiencing difficult monetary times.
We encourage people to fundraise for us during the weeks between the Celtic festival of Ostara and Beltane, from our launch on March 19th - April 29th by taking on a new challenge!
Why Do We Need Your Help Now?
Due to the nature of short term funding and gaps between funding applications combined with wider socio-economic & political circumstances (COVID-19, Brexit, etc!!) we are rapidly facing depleting funds. You might look at our charity and think that we are surviving well due to our pavilion renovation building, however, discreet funding pots awarded such as this are only one part of the jigsaw. The money that we receive from funding bodies such as these is very different from the money we need to keep the charity running and to hold our fantastic and knowledgeable team together. We would be extremely grateful if you could help us with our core costs to enable us to keep the mission of Earth in Common going!
What Can I Do?
We've listed some examples of what you could do to fundraise for us (though the world is your oyster...):
Could you...Walk/Skip/Hulahoop/Prance/Swim/Cycle/Hopscotch for a good length of time everyday (perhaps, 30 minutes?), or ask people to sponsor you for every minute you do of your activity accumulatively?
Could you get your pals or community group together and arrange a fancy dress parade where you spend the day all dressed up as flowers/vegetables/bees etc
By taking part in this fundraiser you can help make a real difference to the work of the organisation, seeking to build a stronger food system in Scotland through the development of its Urban Croft Model. The Urban crofts model looks to create ways of connecting to the wider environmental concerns that we face by creating a fairer, more resilient and local community focused way of accessing land and food grown there.
OUR ASK FOR THE PLANET: We'd love it if your fundraising idea got you outside, connected you to nature somehow, was active, and had as little waste as possible.
