The GM Ringway boasts an impressive 200 miles in total, divided into 20 stages, allowing you to tailor your experience. Whether you’re up for a stroll or a true endurance test, there’s something for everyone.
Plus, it’s all designed to be accessible via public transport, making it a green and sustainable way to explore the diverse landscapes within our ten boroughs. It’s your chance to explore the stunning landscapes of Greater Manchester, boost your fitness, and contribute to a great cause.
Choose to conquer just a stage or two, or challenge yourself to complete the entire 200 miles throughout the summer.

Our self-guided walk circles all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. Traverse urban streets, green spaces, and hidden gems. From historic Grade I and II-listed buildings to accredited museums, ancient monuments, and conservation areas, the trail promises an enriching journey for all.

Every step you take will help fund community events across Greater Manchester.
Invitations to Guided Walks & Events: the project team will be running a series of guided walks as part of the challenge, suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The challenge will culminate with a final celebration event in Manchester on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th August in Manchester City Centre. Everyone who has taken part in the challenge will be invited!
Free Route App: individuals and groups can walk the trail independently using the free-of-charge Go Jauntly walking and wellbeing app. The app also includes 10 shorter GM Ringway walks – including five step free ones – that can be walked or ‘wheeled’ to raise funds.
