Story
The annual Spirit Aid Christmas Toy & Food Hamper Appeal has grown to be something far more than when we first started it. While at its heart we still want to make sure that those children who otherwise might not get a visit from Santa wake up to a gift or gifts on Christmas morning, it has adapted as the austerity of the last decade hits more and more people. Last year we distibuted over 5000 food parcels just over the Christmas holiday period alone. We distributed sleeping bag, thermal clothing, sanatary products and toiletries to Glasgow's homeless community. We donated food & toys to community food banks who were simply overwhelmed by the demand on their services.
2020 is different. On top of all the austerity, we have Covid. Since March we have been delivering between 200 & 500 food parcel a week. We see the impact that this virus is having on people and the lack of support available to them when they needed it.
We need your help to be able to continue the work we do. If you are in a position to donate to our appeal, no matter the amount, every penny will go to helping those who need it.
