Story
Reading is not just an important skill in life - it's a gateway into amazing worlds, incredible experiences, and unforgettable journeys. There's a book out there for everybody - and we do all we can to help our pupils enjoy reading.
But we also want our pupils to know they can enjoy reading wherever they are - whether it's at home, in the classroom, the library, on the bus... or outside. That's why we're extending our library and building an amazing new space where pupils can read outdoors, safe from the elements, so they can concentrate on building such an important life skill.
Our Headteacher, Mrs. Lewry says:
At Speenhamland School, reading is at the forefront of everything we do. Not only do we want to ensure our pupils develop the necessary reading skills to access the curriculum, we also want them to develop that love of reading. Our school library is at the centre of our school and is a place that all children enjoy visiting weekly. When we asked the children how they would like to develop their library space, there was a unanimous desire to develop an exciting outdoor reading area. This fits in perfectly with our love of the outdoors and our passions as a Forest School. The children have aspired to create the perfect library space. Now we need to challenge ourselves to raise the funds and ensure we support our children in making their reading dream come true.
We need your support to reach our goal to build an incredibly important part of our pupils learning journey - and we're incredibly grateful for every penny and pound our amazing friends can raise for this cause.
