Story
Built in 1862 by the renowned architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, the Wappenham Village Hall is a beautiful and historic building we’re proud to call ours. But right now, its future is at serious risk.
The Challenge We’re Facing
After decades of gradual movement and weather damage, our Hall is now in urgent need of major repair.
Stabilising the gable ends and tying them into the roof structure alone will cost around £30,000. But if we are to complete all the recommended works in the recent Structural Appraisal Report (including roof replacement with improved insulation, repairs to brickwork, windows, and gutters) we can achieve all the work for around £75,000. This is the most cost-effective way to carry out the structural repairs as out can be done alongside the roofing work.
That’s a big challenge for a small community but, together, we can rise to it. This project isn’t just about fixing a roof — it’s about protecting our heritage and keeping our community alive.
Together, We Can Save Our Village Hall
Let’s preserve this unique part of Wappenham’s history and keep it a thriving community hub for generations to come. Have a look at the Gallery Photos to see how central the Village Hall is to the village community and surrounding areas.
Whilst we are applying for grant funding, we need every penny we can get. Every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to our goal.

Latest Update (May 2026)
In January we were fortunate to be awarded £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund and a further £4,729 from ACRE specifically to fund the interim repair work which has allowed us to carry on using the Hall safely to hold events. We still have a long way to go but, with your help, we believe we can reach for the £75,000 we need. Please do keep donating and attending our village fundraising events. Thank you.
