Story

Corporates...please press the "fundraise now" button to set up a fundraising page for your business Soup Kitchen Take Over. Please name the page under your business name. Thanks so much for fundraising!

Soup Kitchen Takeovers are something that both us and local businesses/community groups love to do!

We have worked out that our Soup Kitchen costs £200+ a night to run so many businesses and organisations use that as a target figure in their fundraising/donations when taking part in a soup kitchen takeover. A simple way to do this is to set up and link a JustGiving page to this campaign and share it with colleagues, friends and family along with why you are raising money.

The idea is that teams 'takeover' our soup kitchen to experience what it is like, build their team/communication and get to engage with our clients. They cook on the premises as part of their CSR challenge. Most teams will decide what they want to cook/prepare (meat option/veggie option and dessert), go shopping in advance and bring it with them. At the moment we are catering for up to 50 attendees each night at soup kitchen.

The soup kitchen attendees arrive from 6.30pm, teams arrive from 4.30pm to cook and set up. During this time a member of the team will welcome you, run through the evening, explain a bit about Helping Hands and give you a quick tour of the building and what is available. The Soup kitchen runs until 7.30pm and were normally closed down and done by 8pm. There will be our soup kitchen volunteers and team leader on site with you at all times.

The night will involve a mix of food prep, cooking, setting up tables/chairs, serving refreshments from our catering van, chatting to attendees and serving food. It is something a lot of organisations do as the start of their journey with us and love the experience. We tend to say teams of up to 8 are best so everyone has something to do and can get the most from it, if you have more than that we'd suggest 2 dates.
